Fossicking

Every day

Fossick for your very own gems. There are various fossicking parks where you can spend an hour or the entire day searching for your fortune. Choose a bucket of "wash" to go through, or go on fully catered or tag-a-long tours of the Gem Fields where you can dig for your very own sapphires. If you prefer to go it alone, then hire some equipment and set up in your own hole in one of the designated fossicking areas. We can advise you on the best places to go.

Every Day Activities

Walk through an underground sapphire mine. Rubyvale has the only two underground mining tours on The Gem Fields. Visit some of the locally owned and operated jewellery shops, what they have in them is absolutely stunning! Visit The Historic Miners Cottage staffed by dedicated local volunteers, where you can see some of the intriguing mining equipment of yesteryear. Get your supplies for the days fossicking, and other activities, from the local supermarket. Have morning tea or lunch in one of the delightful little Rubyvale shops. Have a few cool drinks at the charming local pub where you can meet and have a yarn with the friendly locals. And after all that fun and hard work, come back to the park, take a refreshing dip in our pool, throw a few chops on the barbie, sit back, relax and talk about all your finds of the day with all your new friends in Rubyvale Caravan Park.
